RE: The tariff classification of Heparin Sodium Injectable in dosage form, from China
Dear Mrs. Keeler:
In your letter dated September 9, 2021, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
Heparin Sodium, imported in various dosages of 1 mL to 30 mL injectable vials, is an anticoagulant. It is indicated for thromboprophylaxis and to treat thrombosis associated with a variety of conditions such as pulmonary embolism and atrial fibrillation. It is also used as an anticoagulant in transfusion, extracorporeal circulation, and dialysis procedures.
The applicable subheading for the Heparin Sodium Injectable in dosage form will be 3004.90.9290, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Medicaments … consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic uses, put up in measured doses … or in forms or packings for retail sale: Other: Other: Other: Other.” The rate of duty will be free.
